EXTENSIONS
|
| Extensions are categories of Internet Domain Names, which are also known as Top Level Domains (TLD).
There are several to choose from. |
- .com represents the word "commercial," and is the most widely used
extension in the world. Most businesses prefer a .com domain name because it
is a highly recognized symbol for having a business presence on the
Internet, and most people who are trying to guess your domain name from your
business name will assume ".com".
|
- .net represents the word
"network", an is most commonly used by Internet service providers,
Web-hosting companies, or other businesses that are directly involved
with the infrastructure of the Internet. Additionally, some
businesses choose domain names with a .net extension for their intranet
Websites.
|
- .org represents the word
"organization," and is primarily used by non-profit groups or trade
associations.
|
- .biz is commonly used for small business
websites, but it is unrestricted and may be used for any site.
|
- .info is for credible resource websites, and signifies a "resource"
website. It is the most popular extension beyond .com, .net, and
.org.
|
- .us is for American websites. It is fairly new and has the
largest number of available names.
|
- .name is the only domain extension specifically designed for
personal use. It is commonly used for easy to remember email
addresses and personal websites that display photos or personal
information about the individual.

Some other extensions are available, and
may show up when searching for an available name, but may have restrictions
or carry additional fees. We will help you through this step. |
